Information and advice for pregnant women
Notes for pregnant women
It’s good travelling on the ferry, even when you’re pregnant
Travelling by ferry is beautiful, even for mothers to be.
For pregnant women a sea journey is completely safe, as long as they are in good health and their pregnancy is not endangered.
Expectant mothers can board our ships in complete safety: In order to board, a medical certificate must be presented from the end of the sixth month of pregnancy onwards, expressly authorising the voyage and certifying their good physical health. The certificate, which has to be presented to the crew, must be issued no more than 7 days before departure (in the case of an outward and return journey, the certificate must be issued no more than 7 days before the outward journey and no more than 7 days before the return journey). This certificate may be issued by the doctor in charge or by an authorised health institution.
In case of complications during pregnancy, the certificate must be presented regardless of the month of pregnancy.
Our ships with their numerous on-board services offer a whole range of comforts that can guarantee pregnant passengers a pleasant and relaxed journey. The spacious indoor and outdoor areas offer plenty of freedom of movement, while the passenger lounge is the ideal place to rest.
